My Story:  By Rob Pyle

My name is Rob Pyle and I was diagnosed in the Fall of 2007 with a squamous cell carcinoma on the base of the tongue (stage IV(b) neck and throat cancer). I had been recommended for a radical surgical procedure that would remove my tongue, strip my lymph glands, and leave me paralyzed on my right side. Because the tumor was large and aggressive, I knew I had to do something quickly.

Fortunately, I met Dr. Salvador Vargas who discussed my available options and  a modified medical procedure of low-dose radiation and chemotherapy quickly reduced the size and number of the tumors so that minor surgery was all that was required.  After ten short weeks, I was cancer-free and back enjoying life in Northern California.
